Our Mission & Values
Guided by faith, driven by purpose, united in love
Our Mission
To glorify God by making disciples of Jesus Christ, nurturing spiritual growth, and serving our community with compassion and grace.
We are called to be a beacon of hope in Surrey, BC, sharing the transformative love of Christ through worship, fellowship, education, and outreach. Our mission is rooted in the Great Commission and the Great Commandment—to love God with all our heart and to love our neighbors as ourselves.
Our Vision
A thriving community where every person experiences God's love and discovers their purpose
We envision Vancouver Forest Presbyterian Church as a place where:
- People encounter the living God through authentic worship and prayer
- Believers grow in their faith through biblical teaching and discipleship
- Families find support, encouragement, and meaningful connections
- The community experiences Christ's love through our service and outreach
- Every member discovers and uses their God-given gifts for ministry
Our Core Values
The principles that guide everything we do
Faith in Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, our Savior and Lord. Through His death and resurrection, we have forgiveness of sins and eternal life. Our faith is grounded in Scripture and expressed through worship, prayer, and obedience to God's Word.
We are committed to helping people grow in their relationship with Christ through Bible study, discipleship, and spiritual formation. Faith is not just something we profess—it's how we live every day.
Community & Fellowship
We are better together. God created us for relationship—with Him and with one another. Our church is a family where people of all ages, backgrounds, and life stages come together in unity and love.
We foster authentic relationships through small groups, fellowship meals, and shared experiences. In our community, you'll find encouragement, accountability, and the joy of belonging to something greater than yourself.
Compassionate Service
Following Christ's example, we are called to serve others with humility and compassion. We actively engage in community outreach, supporting those in need through practical assistance, advocacy, and acts of kindness.
From our backpack program to community meals, from visiting the sick to supporting local initiatives, we seek to be the hands and feet of Jesus in Surrey and beyond. Service is not optional—it's central to who we are.
Our Theological Foundation
Rooted in Reformed theology and the historic Christian faith
Scripture Alone
The Bible is the inspired, authoritative Word of God and our ultimate guide for faith and practice. We are committed to biblical preaching and teaching.
Grace Alone
Salvation is a free gift of God's grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ. We cannot earn God's favor—it is given freely to all who believe.
Christ Alone
Jesus Christ is the only mediator between God and humanity. Through Him alone we have access to the Father and the hope of eternal life.
Faith Alone
We are justified by faith alone in Christ alone. Good works are the fruit of our faith, not the root of our salvation.
Glory to God Alone
All glory belongs to God. Everything we do—worship, service, fellowship—is ultimately for His honor and praise.
Reformed Tradition
We stand in the Reformed theological tradition, emphasizing God's sovereignty, covenant theology, and the priesthood of all believers.
Our Commitment to Community
Living out our faith through tangible acts of love and service
Our mission extends beyond the walls of our church building. We are deeply committed to serving the Surrey community and addressing real needs with practical solutions. This commitment is expressed through:
-
Community Outreach Programs: Backpack drives, food assistance, and support services
-
Partnership with Local Organizations: Collaborating with nonprofits and community groups
-
Environmental Stewardship: Caring for God's creation through sustainable practices
-
Global Mission Support: Supporting missionaries and international development projects
